In 1990, the ANPI laboratories acquired an armoured chamber, which at the time was only a large, earthed metal room (Faraday cage), measuring 7 m x 5 m x 3.4 m. Over the years, with an eye on expanding its range of services, this "cage" was transformed into a fully anechoic room (FAR). For this, it was equipped with a second inner wall, on which ferrite panels and absorbers were placed.
In 2000, the ANPI laboratories acquired a new, much larger anechoic chamber (9.40 m x 6.40 m x 6 m), in order to accommodate larger equipment and to conduct emission measurements for radio-frequency disturbances.
In 2017, extended emission and immunity tests up to 6 GHz are being conducted in order to keep up with the changing standards.
