From 1 January 2020 the use of domestic ionic detectors will be prohibited.
This ban is a result of the application of the Royal Decree of 10.10.2019 amending Decree 64 e) General Regulation on the protection of the population, workers and the environment against the danger of ionising radiation.
This decree does not concern ion detectors in fire detection installations, which are governed by other disposal rules.
IT'S TIME TO REPLACE YOUR OLD SMOKE DETECTORS!
The lifespan of a smoke detector of this type is fixed at 10 years. All detectors purchased and installed before 2011 are normally obsolete and should be replaced anyway.
