EU FireStat - How to fill the gaps in available data for pan-European progress in fire safety
Statistical data on fires - where available - provide trends and general indications of the situation, but comparisons between countries are not yet possible. This is mainly due to differences in terminology, but also to a lack of clarity on data and headings, as well as the absence of common methodologies, etc.
EUFireStat is a European project initiated by the European Parliament and commissioned by the European Commission's Directorate-General for the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW).
The 17-month project is led by a consortium of nine international fire safety institutions:
Efectis - consortium leader in the project
Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM)
CTIF Centre for Fire Statistics (CFS-CTIF)
Danish Institute of Fire and Safety Technology (DBI)
Lund University
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
School of Engineering, University of Edinburgh
The European Fire Safety Alliance (EuroFSA)
Vereinigung zur Förderung des Deutschen Brandschutzes (VFDB) (Association for the promotion of German brands)
