As a reminder, vegetated claddings must meet the same fire resistance and behaviour requirements as other types of facades, as specified in the draft Royal Decree amending the basic standards (2022). These fire reaction requirements expressed in fire classes obviously do not take into account plant life and climatic effects on plants.
To date, there are no specific fire safety requirements for vegetated facades.
In a recent article on the fire behaviour of vegetated facades, the BBRI recommends measures to limit the vertical spread of fire along 'green' facades.
