The Belgian Building Research Institute just publishes a new document on fire safety of facades of multistorey buildings
This new publication was prepared prepared following recent façade fires in high-rise buildings, and particularly in the Grenfell Tower in London last June.
The objectives are :
- to give an overview of the current regulatory and normative context for fire in Belgium, in particular with regard to the risk of spreading fire through the façades. The document will present the revision of the current regulations as well as the first proposed tracks;
- to set out the points of vigilance and constructive arrangements to ensure the proper design and implementation of the most common facade systems to meet current and future requirements.
