The Onderzoeksraad voor veiligheid (Netherlands) will investigate the fatal fire in an apartment building in Arnhem (NL) on New Year's Eve 2019-2020.
At around 1 a.m., fireworks set fire to a sofa in the hall of the building. Following the power cut, the lift got stuck, trapping a family (2 dead and 2 seriously injured).
The investigation will try to understand the impact of the fire on the consequences of the fire:
- the design of the building
- the evacuation ;
- the use of lifts during a fire.
