Climate change and land-use change are expected to make "uncontrolled" fires more frequent and intense, according to a new report by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the GRID-Arendal information and data centre. Uncontrollable forest fires could increase by 50% by 2100.
In the same vein, NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology - US) has published a compilation of different methods and holistic approaches to better control this conflagration risk, prevent uncontrolled development of forest fires and better protect threatened homes and urban neighbourhoods.
