The Federal Knowledge Centre for Civil Protection has just published the statistics for the interventions in the rescue areas in 2015.
226,530 interventions were carried out by the fire brigade in 2015. Among the non-EMS (emergency medical assistance) data, "Rescue and technical" interventions represent the largest part of the work of the fire brigades in Belgium, i.e. almost 67.5%. Fires are the third most common cause of intervention with a total of 22,349 interventions but they mobilise twice as many personnel.
