- Choose a natural tree with sufficient roots and soil or a synthetic tree (classified as difficult to inflam).
- Never buy a natural tree that has lost its needles.
- Keep the roots moist. Water the root ball regularly.
- Install your tree securely to avoid any risk of falling.
- Place it away from busy passages and at a good distance from doors (these are your emergency exits).
- Keep a sufficient distance from all sources of heat, lamps, open fires, mobile heaters.
- Do not allow candles, candlelight or bengal fires near the tree.
- Place the tree at a safe distance from curtains and drapes. Garlands, baubles, angel hair, etc. are combustible.
- Do not treat your tree with inflammable products (beware of products that prevent needles from falling off or colour flocking, for example).Preferably use LED lighting: this type of lighting produces less heat and also consumes less energy.
- Check the wires of your lanterns to make sure they are not damaged.
- Put your presents under the tree.
- Before going out, turn off the lights. Be careful, a dry tree catches fire instantly. Once it has dried out, it is better to get rid of it.
